oculus Software will work on any video game that supports the latest Oculus SDK, Oculus founder Palmer Luckey announced today.
Luckey announced the update during a live webcast that Oculus held during its developer conference, which was live streamed from the Oculus Connect developer conference in San Francisco.
It was the second big update to the Oculus SDK in just over a month, after Luckey added support for more games.
The update also adds support for a new version of Oculus Touch, which is expected to arrive in the fall.
Oculus Touch will be a touch-based device that allows users to interact with virtual objects in VR.
Luckey also added a new feature to the SDK, called “virtual-reality immersion.”
It allows users who are wearing glasses or using a head-mounted display (HMD) to feel as if they’re wearing a full-body VR headset that can be used to interact in real life.
The Oculus SDK will also get more VR-capable titles, including the first Oculus Rift games to be released this year, including a new open-world adventure titled “Sail to the Moon.”
Oculus said it is also adding support for games for smartphones and tablets, including HTC’s Vive and Sony’s PlayStation VR.
